Why I Like Unschooling

My sister used to go to school. She says she likes unschooling much more than school. I think I do too, even though I have never been to school. I get to learn about the things that are really interesting!

I am interested in maths, science, and history, and I have read some good books like The Big Book of Tashi, Old Tom, and Zombies on The Loose. Today I read Bigfoot and Other Monsters.

Today we did a science experiment with purple cabbage, bicarb soda, and vinegar. First you boil the cabbage until the water goes purple then you collect the water. Then you add some bicarb soda to it and it turns blue. Then you add some vinegar to it and it fizzes lots and turns pink.

This happens because the purple cabbage water changes when something is alkaline or acidic. It turns blue with the alkaline bicarb soda, and pink with the vinegar. It fizzes because vinegar and bicarb soda create a chemical reaction when you mix them. It was fun and interesting!

Here are some photos we took.

this is the purple cabbage water

when we added the bicarb soda it went this colour
When we added the vinegar it fizzed like crazy and went everywhere!

It was pinker than it looks in this photo.
